Kingdom Business

Key Identifying Characteristics (KIC's)

Owner / Leader:

  • Will be a Kingdom minded person.
    • Must be able to understand and “see” the Kingdom of God in a tangible form on this earth.
    • Must be able to see the wider purposes for his/her business in the sphere of the Kingdom of God that has been given them.
    • Must be able to see their business as a means to the end and not the end.
  • Will be a visibly Spiritual person
    • Both at home, church and the workplace.
  • Will know that he/she is called as a leader in the business world.
  • Will have authority and faith to direct the company according to God’s laws and principles.
  • Will have a spirit of excellence.
    • Over his/her life
    • Over the businesses’ operations, goods and services.
  • Will be of high integrity
    • In word
    • In deed
    • In relationships and transactions.

 

 

The Business:

 

  • Will reflect, validate and exemplify the Kingdom mindset of the owner/leader in all its activities and values.
  • Will not practice or trade in a market sector that brings dishonor to God and His church.
  • Will reach-out to all trade and market sectors that it interfaces with to show the Kingdom of God.
    • By having good report about its own standing and business.
    • By being honest in dealings and transactions.
    • By being open and steadfast why some business transactions and deals can not be entered into.
  • Will have a manifest and spiritual Christian ethos
    • By declaring such in the vision and mission statements of the business.
    • By manifesting the same:
      • On the business web site
      • Employee gatherings
      • Promotional literature as appropriate
  • Will have good standing amongst its peers.
    • By indirect reputation
    • By direct experience of those who have been transacted with.
  • Will ultimately be in existence for the furtherance of the Kingdom and glory of God.
  • Will provide good benefits and conditions to its employees when compared to similar industries.
  • Will have direct links and regular contact with the church body:
    • By the appointment of a corporate pastor
    • By some other regular visiting person from the local church body(s).
  • Will provide on-premises and extra curricular Christian activity by means of a Corporate Pastor or other such means.

 

The Employees :

 

  • Ideally will be real believers that hold and support the same values as the owner.
  • Will see their employment as a means to an end (the end being the furtherance of the Kingdom of God and his glory) and a service to God.
  • Will take active participation in praying for the business, its leaders and goals.
  • Will be comfortable with and practice spiritual life in the secular arena.
  • Will support and take part in extra-curricular actives of the business that further its Kingdom-minded and spiritual goals.
    • By giving skills, advice and other resources to Kingdom seeding initiatives.
    • By participating in promoting to business associates and alliance the needs and activities of those extra-curricular projects.

 

 

The Associations, Alliances and Partnerships:

 

  • Will be formed with both Kingdom and non-Kingdom (secular world system) businesses:
    • By prudent and cautious associations with secular businesses
    • By alliances with Kingdom business, be they clients, suppliers or competitors, in order to promote the Kingdom of God and collectively be “light” into the secular system.
    • By partnerships and friendships with trusted and established business contacts and with church and ministry contacts; for specific and consolidated furtherance of the Kingdom through specific projects & tasks.

The Finances

 

  • Will be generated by profit through good stewardship.
  • Will be spent and given wisely.
  • Will be handled with complete integrity and righteousness.
    • By open and clear accounting
    • By discrete and invisible giving that does not seek reward in this life.
  • Will be viewed as a resource to further the Kingdom of God.
    • By seeding other Kingdom business
    • By supporting Kingdom ministries
    • By gifts to Kingdom individuals and ministries
    • By gifts and offerings to the local church and other church bodies as appropriate.
